Q: What is fractional ownership, and what does it mean to me?

A: Think of it as partial ownership. You buy part of a property and you don't have to pay for the whole thing. In this case, you get a spectacular vacation home on Lake Superior—one week a month (plus a bonus week) for a total of 12 to 13 weeks a year. You save on the purchase price, the cost of furnishings, the maintenance, the taxes, etc., by sharing ownership with other individuals. This means you get an outstanding home for a fraction of the cost, allowing you to afford a property you might not otherwise have been able to enjoy.

Q: How many other co-owners are there?

A: Fractional interest owners will share the condominium with up to three owners, some owners may choose to purchase more than one quarter share. Beacon Pointe properties are sold in quarter-shares, with each owner receiving one week per month plus a bonus week. That's more than most vacation home owners typically use. And that's why we've set up a rental program, allowing you the potential to earn income when you're not there.

Q: Do I really own the property?

A: Yes. It's yours, and you can mortgage it, sell it, leave it to your grandkids or auction off a week's stay for charity. You are the deeded owner for each of your 12 to 13 weeks a year. You just don't have to do any of the upkeep.

Q: If I can't use my weeks, can I rent them to someone?

A: Of course. You can potentially earn rental income on your vacation home, and we'll even manage the reservations. Just let us know if you're not going to be there, and we'll take care of everything. What's more, your floor plan includes separate living quarters that can be “locked out,” allowing you to rent part of your space while you're there, all while ensuring your security and privacy. So you have the potential to earn income and vacation at the same time.

Q: What if I want to stay there on Christmas? Can I switch weeks with the other owners?

A: Yes. You can coordinate weeks with your other co-owners to extend a stay or swap one week for another. And when it comes to holidays, our rotating schedule guarantees that each owner will get each holiday at least once every four years.

Q: Isn't fractional ownership just a new form of the same old time share?

A: No. It isn't like a time share at all—because you own the property and you have 12 to 13 weeks there per year. It also isn't a fly-by-night idea. Fractional ownership opportunities have existed for decades.

Q: What if I want more than fractional ownership?

A: We agree that Beacon Pointe is a magnificent place to live, and if a quarter-share isn't quite enough, you can purchase additional shares—up to full-fledged, full-time ownership.
